Sincronía journal was founded in 1996, being this the first electronic magazine in Latin America. Its founder, Dr. Stephen W. Gilbert, attached to the Department of Geography and Territorial Planning of the University of Guadalajara, donated in 2014 the magazine to the departments of Philosophy and Letters, being in charge of this, the Mtro. Javier Ponce Martínez and Dr. Raúl Rodríguez Monsiváis, taking the magazine to an important evolution allowing the professionalization of the editorial work of the same and to become one of the main electronic journals of the University of Guadalajara, thanks to its international projection.

Currently, Sincronía is configured as a semestral, arbitrated and open access electronic journal that publishes original articles on scientific research on Philosophy, Humanities and Humanities topics. This magazine is edited by the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Literature, of the University Center of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of Guadalajara; aimed at academic readers and the general public, interested in issues of conceptual analysis and / or approaches to problems in the Social Sciences and Humanities.

During the years 2015 and 2016, it received funding from the Integral Program of Scientific Dissemination (CONACYT Journals), awarded by the University of Guadalajara, through the General Academic Coordination and managed by the Research Coordination of the University Center of Social Sciences and Humanities. ; with the aim of professionalizing the editorial work, as well as the substantive improvement of its official website. During 2017, 2018 and 2019, she is again a beneficiary of the financing program.

The main purpose of the journal is to make available to the academic scientific community and the general public, the research product of academics enrolled in public and private institutions, both national and foreign, in order to disseminate scientific knowledge , product of their research works. The central themes are on philosophical and literary subjects, without excluding those on history, science, politics, geography, education, etc .; addressing them from various disciplinary sources.

The published articles are available in three formats: PDF, Word and HTML so that they can be downloaded in any version. In future editions, they will be offered in the XML format. Each article is published in the original language, mostly in Spanish, and the abstracts of the published articles have a translation into English.

Session of Rights: Sincronía uses a Literary Work Use License, which establishes the rights that the University of Guadalajara has for the publication of the articles, as well as, among others, rights for the diffusion, promotion and dissemination of the same. This license can be downloaded directly in the Publishing criteria. From the number 74, July-December 2018, the CC-BY licenses have been adopted. Attribution 4.0 International, for the journal portal and CC-BY NC Non-Commercial Attribution 4.0 International for the articles.
